Patchwork Programme

Patchwork Programme

We’re proud to share that Personal Best Foundation has been selected to be part of the Patchwork Programme Cohort 2 alongside Street Games and England Athletics. The programme officially launched last week at the Design Museum.

The Patchwork programme is funded by The National Lottery and Sport England and delivered by the social innovation team at thinkpublic.

This programme will help us bring our physical-literacy philosophies into practice. With the mission to strengthen our commitment to creating impactful programmes that inspire a lifelong love of movement.

The Positive Experiences Collective, funded by Sport England and the National Lottery, was born out of the launch of the Physical Literacy Consensus Statement for England in September 2023. This cross-sector initiative explores how to embed physical literacy, our lifelong relationship with movement and physical activity, into real-world practice. It’s a key priority within Sport England’s Uniting the Movement strategy,. This strategy aims to ensure that everyone has access to positive, inclusive experiences of being active.

What is the Patchwork Programme?

The Patchwork Programme is a nine-month creative accelerator designed to help interdisciplinary teams co-design and deliver innovative, inclusive movement experiences for children and young people. It provides space for reflection, learning, and collaboration, enabling teams to translate physical literacy principles into impactful local action.

Amy Murtagh - Programme Manager at Personal Best Foundation said,

''We’re proud to join Cohort 2 of the Positive Experiences Collective’s Patchwork Programme, in partnership with England Athletics and StreetGames. This is a brilliant opportunity for Personal Best Foundation to collaborate with 11 other inspiring teams, all committed to making movement joyful and accessible for every child. We’re exploring how physical literacy can shape lasting engagement , and how major events like the European Championships can spark real change in local communities.''

Thank you to Sport England and the Patchwork team for championing this vision. We can’t wait to get started.
